OREA Big Boy Brewer

Big Boy is designed for high-capacity brewing, with an optimal coffee dose range of 40g to 60g, paired with 600ml to 1 liter of water. Depending on the recipe, you can use as little as 32g or as much as 80g of coffee. We recommend keeping the water pour volume relatively high (over 200ml per pour) for optimal performance. If you are brewing a smaller amount, please grind finer and use larger water pours. A brewing guide is included in the box, providing recipe suggestions for two, three, or more people.

Big Boy features a unique base design that utilizes a series of high ridges to perfectly support the filter paper, keeping it flat and maintaining consistent airflow at the bottom. The filter itself will not clog (i.e., it won't stop dripping due to suction)—though if the grind is too fine or the grinder is of poor quality, the paper itself might clog. Different varieties, processing methods, and roast levels of coffee beans create varying degrees of resistance, and some coffees naturally have a slower extraction flow rate. However, the device itself will never hinder extraction; its ridge design provides a large 8cm opening at the bottom. Furthermore, there is a large drainage hole in the center, ensuring a continuous and smooth flow of coffee.

This is our most rugged design style yet. Large in size, ridged, and aggressive—it's a distinct departure from our previous design language. We love it because here, "form perfectly follows function." This rugged, toothed design is highly optimized to help deliver outstanding and consistent results when brewing large batches. You will find that while the dripper looks large and rugged, the coffee that drips through is remarkably gentle and elegant, making the process a pleasure to watch.

With the right recipe and most coffee beans, you can complete a 600ml to 1-liter brew in about 3 to 4 minutes. Using the Negotiator pressing system and high-flow filters like the Sibarist FAST can shorten this time even further. You can also control the flow rate by adjusting the grind size and water pour volume, offering great flexibility. Of course, you can keep it simple by using the included wave filter and the basic recipe provided in the box.

In the world of specialty coffee, some are overly critical, even subscribing to the myth that "large-capacity brewing can't produce good coffee." This is largely because existing equipment has been inadequate, leading people to wrongly believe that only single-cup doses (12g) can extract good flavor. We approached this project with an completely open mind, creating a large-capacity dripper specifically for the purpose, rather than simply scaling up an existing product.

Enjoy extreme clarity and sweetness while extracting larger quantities. Large-batch brewing often carries a distinctive "batchy/stewed" taste, but we aimed to scale up the flavor profile of our V3 dripper proportionally. This allows you to serve high-quality pour-over coffee to groups faster, without sacrificing flavor quality.
