ORIGAMI with Makers Project “ORIGAMI and Beppu Bamboo Crafts” presents the ORIGAMI Online Store exclusive Dripper Holder [Rinko Weave].

This dripper holder is crafted using “Rinko Weaving,” one of the traditional techniques of bamboo craft.

The name “Rinko” (meaning “ring arc”) is said to derive from the method of weaving by layering rings.

Rinko weaving is a technique within bamboo craftwork that uniquely combines three-dimensionality with lightness. Its defining feature is achieving both strength and beauty through layered rings. The large, open weave creates a translucent quality, producing contrasts of light and shadow that lend a refreshing cool impression characteristic of bamboo craft. When brewing coffee, the weave of this dripper holder creates airflow between the dripper and server or cup, altering the extraction time.

The new bamboo craftwork has a pale beige color, but over time, exposure to light and air will cause it to change to amber or deep brown. With use, it gains luster, deepens in texture, and becomes a tool uniquely yours.

Inspired by traditional Japanese craftsmanship, yet featuring modern hues that naturally harmonize with contemporary living.

Oita Prefecture is one of Japan's major bamboo-producing regions, especially renowned for its high-quality bamboo. Beppu's warm, humid climate and abundant rainfall foster lush bamboo forests, providing a rich source of high-quality bamboo resources. Furthermore, Japan has a long history of hot spring therapy, known as "yuchi" (hot spring resorts). Beppu's hot springs welcome many hot spring enthusiasts from all over the country. During the Edo period, the "yuchi" culture, where commoners resided for long periods to recuperate, flourished. Beppu's rich hot spring and bamboo resources, coupled with its profound cultural and industrial background, have led to the widespread use of bamboo crafts in various items needed for the hot spring lifestyle, such as bathtubs and bath baskets.

Using a dishwasher or dryer, or drying quickly in direct sunlight, may cause deformation or cracking. If concerned about stains or odors, gently clean with baking soda solution. If the surface turns white after drying, apply a thin layer of edible-grade vegetable oil to restore its shine.
